Weak Sauce About Nothing

Salsa débil sobre nada!

“This is so unusual, and I don’t know whether or not it’s a lesson from God,” Karim said.

It snowed in Baghad today.  And people took a snow day, a chance to play and have fun, and for a brief moment be children.  Such a simple thing, and it brings so much joy.  A part of that makes me really happy, because it shows how resiliant people are.  In spite of all the war and all the fighting and all the bloodshed, they can still find joy in a snowball fight.  One the other hand it makes me sad, because tomorrow there will be a bomb, or a shooting, or something that will destroy that joy.

“I don’t know whether or not it’s a lesson from God”

I think it would be.  Take joy where you can find it and don’t let go of that no matter what.

Let’s end this fucking war now.

It is snowing pretty bad today, and as a consequence the rumor mill at my cubicle job is going insane.  “I hear they are going to let us off early.”  Yeah right.  I work for a huge corporation, and by the time the wheels get rolling on letting us go home an hour early, it will be a half hour till it is time to go anyways, so who cares.

So instead of dwelling on it, I’m going to go to lunch in a few and try to think about my cheesy fries and how good they are, instead of how much I could be getting done, if I was at home today.

Snowing like a motherfucker, The Bicycle Theives

I live in Colorado, and I hate snow.  It seems dumb, but I feel totally trapped in this city.  Waiting for my wife to finish school, not really able to move to another company, I’m just kind of stuck.  So due to the inerta of my life (which I’m sure is mostly self imposed) I live in a stat that gets snow, and I hate snow.

Right now it is snowing like a motherfucker, and it is cold, and I hate it and I want it to stop.

On that note I spent some time with my wife watching a bretty awesome movie last night.   Ladri di biciclette or The Bicycle TheivesThe plot of the film is all about a father who has to have his bike for work.  When his bike is stolen he and his son spend the rest of the day trying to find the guy that stole it.  They do find him but due to circumstance there is nothing that they can do to retreive the bike.  In the end the struggle becomes, does the father want to become the thief that he is trying to hunt down just to get another bike to do his job, to support his family.

It is an amazing film.  For me it is just something that I can really relate to.  The impulse to do desperate things to help your family.  I feel like I’m traped in that situation a lot.  Today is all about being trapped.
